The Mobridge Police Department K9 Unit has
been in existence since 1998. The current K9 drug detection
team consists of Handler Officer Travis Collins and K9 Officer
Cinder.
Cinder is a Blue Belgian Malinois, which
was born in December of 2004. Cinder was acquired by MPD in
March of 2007 from Kassenberg Kennels in Alabama. This is the
same kennel used to supply the service K9s for the South
Dakota Highway Patrol.
Officer Collins and Cinder attended an
eight-week training and certification course for drug
detection teams in Sioux Falls, SD from March through May of
2007. This course was hosted through the Sioux Falls Police
Department.
Officer Collins and Cinder passed the
course training and are now a State recognized and certified
K9 drug detection team through the International Congress of
Police Service Dogs. |
