Mobridge Police Department Police
Advisory Board
The Mobridge Police Department strives to
strengthen our community oriented policing philosophy by
bettering our relationship with the people we serve...our
community.
With this in mind, we have created an advisory
board consisting of citizen representatives, ranging from
youth citizens to senior citizens, from the community
who act as liaisons between the community and the police
department. The board consists of between 12 and 20 citizen
representatives. The City of Mobridge has been sectioned into six
districts with at least two advisory board members
representing each district. One MPD officer is a police
department representative for each district, as well.
The MPD Police Advisory Board members meet
once a month during the summer months and quarterly throughout
the rest of the year. The purpose of the board meetings is to
bring to the attention of the Mobridge Police Department
different issues and concerns that the community may have with
the enforcement of laws and ordinances, both good and
bad.
The board primarily focuses on municipal code
enforcement issues, letting our department know when issues
arise in any of the six code enforcement districts within our
community. These may be issues such as abandoned vehicles or
junk and debris on properties or lawns that are overgrown with
weeds and tall grass. PAB members also review City Ordinances
to determine if a particular ordinance is outdated and needs
to be removed or if an ordinance needs to be changed.
The MPD PAB is also an assistive group for
creating and implementing new community oriented policing
programs in our community.
We feel this new approach to interacting with
our community will benefit everyone and we are excited to work
with this board to accomplish many positive goals. |
