A message from Chief of Police Michael E. Nehls...

On behalf of the entire staff of the Mobridge Police Department and North Central Regional E911 - Mobridge Communications Center, I would like to welcome you to Mobridge and tell you about our organization and some of the new and exciting things that are happening at the Mobridge Police Department.

The Mobridge Police Department is a community-oriented policing organization with seven full-time sworn police officers and one part-time sworn police officer/code enforcement officer. We also employ six full-time certified communications officers in our nine-county North Central Regional E911 - Mobridge Communications Center, which operates under the Mobridge Police Department. The Comm Center also employs one part-time E911 Coordinator.

The Mobridge Police Department provides 24-hour coverage for the citizens of Mobridge and our officers are also sworn as Walworth County Special Deputy Sheriffs to cover emergency calls for service that may occur outside the city limits of Mobridge. We are very proud of our close working relationship with the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, the South Dakota Highway Patrol, and other law enforcement agencies in the area.

The Mobridge Police Department is located at our Law Enforcement Center at 110 1st Avenue East and the front public entrance is open 24 hours a day. We encourage the public to come and tour the Mobridge Police Department and North Central Regional E911 - Mobridge Communications Center.

I am very proud of the dedicated staff at the Mobridge Police Department and North Central Regional E911 - Mobridge Communications Center. We are in the process of developing some very exciting programs so we can serve the citizens of Mobridge even better. The Mobridge Police Department has implemented a Police Advisory Board, a Crime Stoppers Hotline (845-CALL), a Bike Patrol Unit, and we have reimplemented a K9 Unit. The Mobridge Police Department is in the process implementing a Police Reserve program, Police Cadet program and reimplementation of the Neighborhood Watch program, to help build partnerships with the Mobridge community. The Mobridge Police Department is currently teaching the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program in both our public and private schools and has expanded the D.A.R.E. program to even more grade levels. The Mobridge Police Department also teaches bicycle safety and other safety programs to all ages of our citizens in and around Mobridge.

The Mobridge Police Department has a proactive vision and believes that crime prevention programs like Neighborhood Watch are very beneficial to the citizens of Mobridge. We have a ride-along program where you can spend time observing an officer as they go about their duties. The Mobridge Police Department is here to serve you and if we can ever be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you are interested in a career in law enforcement or becoming a communications officer, please contact me at 845-5000.

I have always said that Mobridge is the best kept secret in South Dakota as I believe it is a wonderful place to live and work. The Mobridge Police Department is committed to building partnerships with all ages of our citizens to help make Mobridge an even better place to live. The staff at the Mobridge Police Department and North Central Regional E911 - Mobridge Communications Center pledge to serve and protect you to the best of our ability.

Welcome to Mobridge.
